The fish and chip shop was in this small thatched barn in front of what is now “Friars Dyke” - wittily renamed to remember the chippy… - opposite the end of Mill Close.
The fish and chip shop was owned by Harry Chapman.
He also sold fruit and vegetables in season.
Harry also went round the village selling wet fish from his van.
It closed before 1973.
The shop was still standing in 1973, but was demolished probably in the 1980’s.
