A written memory of Frances Fox in the 1920s

Hickling had four grocery stores.  A small one at Town Street run by a dear little old lady, Fanny Fox.

She had a radiant face and wore a long black frock which swished as she walked.  It had a high neckline and she looked immaculate. If any of the poorer children went in for a penn’orth of sweets, they always got extra at Fanny’s!
