John Findlay took his golf handicap to Ely Golf Club which he joined,  and here he met a “gorgeous girl” called Kate.

They started dating and a few months later  he proposed.

A year or so after they married, they took the pub at Winterton on Sea - The Fisherman’s Return - and  they stayed there for 34 years until he retired.
