Ben Lacey was one of the real characters!  he had led a tough life and in his retirement he lived under an upturned boat…  He had no power or water, no toilet or washing facilities.  He had a dog called Popeye and went daily to Waldo’s Garage to get his paper.

When he died, his old boat was burned.
