Piece work - sedge and sugar beet

In this clip, Doddo talks about moving sugar beet from the fields to Cantley.  


This picture shows a current day pile of  sugar beet that has been harvested and is waiting for the big vehicles - lorry, tractor and  conveyor belt - to come and load it to go to the factory.


Doddo did this work by hand.  Assuming that sugar beets averaged about 1.5 kilos in weight, each load of the two he did each day would have held about 9000 sugar beet roots…
