Harcourt (Herbert)  Warnes was born in Sutton.

Known to all as “Harcourt”,  Herbert Warnes spoke to us when he was 93 and looking back on a long life working not so much in as around Hickling.

His is the story of a true marsh man skilled in the tools and terminology of his trade- a cutter and binder of reeds and a keeper of clear dykes from Horsey to Potter Heigham.

He tells us here about the marshman`s year, coypus and much more.
