HEALTH and SICKNESS:

Memories of health and sickness are plentiful among our Voices!

The doctors came from Stalham and used the surgery building (above left) as their base.

We learn about the early days of the  NHS and about how families saved for healthcare before it arrived, about childhood illnesses, mumps, measles, chicken pox and the like.

We also hear about farming accidents, and a trip to Great Yarmouth General Hospital for a tonsillectomy.

The picture on the right shows the old Wesleyan Methodist Chapel on the Green:  this was prepared for use as an emergency hospital in the war:  some of our Voices were used as mock casualties in preparation for the real thing!
