There were fish shops in Sutton and in Hickling.  Harry Chapman had the fish shop in Stubb Road in Hickling.  As well as supplying wet fish, they also sold fish and chips.

Although not produced to modern hygiene standards, the fish and chips were good enough.  

Fish was sixpence (in old money - now 2.5 pence) a portion and a portion of chips threepence…
