Murray went to Abbotsholme School near Uttoxeter when he was 8 and worked his way right up the school, leaving at the age of 18. He talks about the ethos of the school.
One sad story he tells is of a master who was a wonderful pianist, giving concerts in the school, but who often couldn’t finish playing as he broke down as a result of being shot down twice in Hurricanes in the war.
