Hickling had many shops while our Voices were young, as well as quite a number of delivery vans and horses and carts selling meat, clothing, bread etc.

Most of these hold fond memories for many of the voices, with some shopkeepers going “more than the mile” to help their customers.  There was even a village fish and chip shop!

The butcher frightened one of the voices with all his knife sharpening, and another found the milkman’s horse “amazing”.

We have also added a map (accessible via the “interactive map” button below):  this will let you learn about the individual shops and other important places in the village.
