Here George talks about how many of the men of Hickling moved from job to job as the seasons progressed, with jobs ranging from reed cutting in the winter to hoeing sugar beet, working on the harvest, fruit picking, harvesting sugar beet and in between times going to sea on the herring boats, and John Tallowin says more about it here.
