A short story - from a bit before David’s time - of a man who answered the vicar at his wedding when asked “Do you, X,  take Y to be your lawful wedded wife” replied “No, I don’t know whether I do”!!!

In the short term it worked out with a bit of help from the vicar, but we don’t know how log the marriage lasted….
