Pat remembers the big searchlight which lit up every night, and going to open days when the village children were given rides on the anti-aircraft gun!

These were the huts used by the soldiers who manned the gun. They were on the Rec somewhere near the end of what is now Mallard Way, but have long since been demolished.
Their ammo store still exists at the opposite corner of the Rec and is now used as a store.
