In the winter the bottles of school milk would freeze, so they were brought in to Mr Drake’s classroom, where there was a stove.  Here they were thawed by the fireside and and the mill got warm and - in Megan’s words - “was really awful”

Megan also talks about a bout of pneumonia and getting measles when she was just 3 years old.
