Here Megan tells us about her grandfather - William Myhill - who was shot in the trenches in France in theFirst World War.  He survived the germans coming to the trenches and shooting any of the soldiers still alive and came home with an honourable discharge after spending time in hospitals on the front line getting “mended up”.

She reflects on the  fact that although some Hickling folk didn’t come back after the Second World War, all her family did.
