They are taken from an old close-typed document which is unfortunately anonymous:  to the best of our knowledge and belief, they were written by one Mr Johnson, who was at some stage a policeman.  But we don’t really know…


All of them make enjoyable reading, and offer good backgrounds to many of the memories featured on this website.
